Hello from the Gibblet!

Today we had our ultrasound and check-up with the high risk doctor and things are going well! The gibblet is weighing in at 3 lbs 7 oz which is right where he should be at almost 31 weeks. As always, he was being a bit of a stinker and making it difficult for the ultrasound technician to get her pictures, he was moving around like CRAZY!! We didn't mind though. It is always so much fun seeing what he is up to in there. He is still trying to figure out how to suck his thumb (we're pretty sure that he got his thumb in his nose instead of his mouth!) and just like last time he had the hiccups. All of his organs and bones that they measure are right on track and where they should be. His ventricles (which is where the fluid in his brain collects) are a bit bigger at 14 and 15 but again, this is to be expected and not too much of a change from last month. He is still considered to have mild hydrocephalus which we are very thankful for. His feet are still looking straight and moving around (mostly kicking me in the ribs!) Andy and I are both feeling encouraged and upbeat with this appointment, much better than last month's. Please continue to keep us in your prayers we certainly felt them today!

Love,
Leigh and Andy

Hi Leigh, this is karlee with the babycenter.com SB group. Just wanted to let you know that you guys are in my thoughts & prayers constantly. It is almost wierd to read your blog, I feel like I wrote it! Our little ones were even the same weight last check up 3lbs 7 oz! And it looks like we have the exact furniture, Munire in black? Weird!!!! Hang in there and don't stress too much! We have two special little babies coming our way.

What a neat pic! I am glad everything is still looking good for your little man. He'll be here before you know it!

Hi Leigh: I was searching the net and came upon your site. I also have a daughter with spina bifida. She is now 8 years old and quite the "big little lady". Here is her website: www.angelinemarie.com

Please feel free to contact me. I remembered feeling overwhelmed being pregnant with Angie and diving into this SB world. It helped to talk to other mom's going through this.

God bless
Emily

Hi Leigh,
This is Kathi from the pregnancy boards. I thought I would check out your site. I see that you found neighbors going through they same exact thing. That is awesome. We ended up moving to a place that another family lived in when Justin was 5. We ended up being the best of friends and their son was born the same exact day in Grand Rapids as Justin. We are all still friends today. Like I said before on the boards, I would be willing to meet you somewhere sometime. I would be willing to meet with your friends too. Justin is always up to meeting with people and would love to let you know what life is like for him. Neonatal is awesome at Spectrum. They give you a number so that you can call anytime of the day or night. I used to call in the middle of the night when I was laying in bed not able to sleep. It was comforting. My 13 year old turning 14 in January has his birthday on the 28th. He said it is a good month for a birthday. ;o) You can check out my blog - there is some stuff in the older posts that I wrote about Justin when he was younger. Mine is the MommaKathi blog.
Blessings, Kathi
